Silvia Auxilia CertVD DipECVD MRCVS Dermatology Specialist

After graduating with honours from the University of Turin and completing an internship in the USA and an ECVD dermatology Residency at the University of Edinburgh, I became an ECVD Board Diplomate in 2001. I have worked in many countries, including the UK, the NL and the Middle East (Lebanon, Oman and the UAE) in both referral practice and universities before re-joining the Dermatology Referral Service at the beginning of 2026. I have been a practising Vet since longer that 30 years and a Diplomate in Veterinary Dermatology for longer than 25 years. I am currently the Vet Lead of the Dermatology Referral Service and I previously was the Head of the Dermatology Service and director of an ECVD Residency program at one of the largest dutch Hospitals, close to The Hague.

My key interests include cat skin diseases, ear conditions and the responsible use of antibiotics and I enjoy using the CO2 laser to address various lesions, including cysts/lumps and paws abnormalities. I am passionate about offering the best possible care to our patients and their carers, about fostering innovation and exceptional standards in our clinics and creating a collaborative and inclusive team environment, valuing diversity and supporting everyone’s development. I greatly enjoy giving presentations and being part of CPD events at a national and international level.

Throughout my life, I always had pets; currently Theo, rescued by a colleague in Utrecht, is very much part of our family. I speak four languages: Italian, French, English and Dutch (and unfortunately only a few words of Arabic) and find embracing different cultures and meeting diverse people an incredible asset to my life.
