Silvia graduated with Honors in 1995 from the University of Turin after an internship in the US and a brief time in private practice she undertook a Residency at the University of Edinburgh from 1996 to 1998.

She obtained the British Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 1998 and the Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology from the European College of Veterinary Dermatology in 2001. She worked in referral practice in Central London, then as a Lecturer in Veterinary Dermatology at Utrecht University and finally in referral practice (Dermatology Referral Service, with Peter Forsythe and Hilary Jackson) in Scotland for 6 years. She then worked in private referral practice for 7 years in the Middle East between Oman, the United Arabs Emirates and Lebanon. She moved back to the Netherlands in 2018 and she worked at Utrecht University for 2.5 years, as a Senior Lecturer, and for 6 years, initially concomitantly with the University, she worked at Haaglanden AniCura Specialist Referral Centre, in The Hague, one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the NL. She was the Head of the Dermatology Service and involved in teaching students from the Vet School, and training  Interns (rotating Interns and dermatology Interns), and mentoring an ECVD Residency Programme.

She recently moved back to Glasgow and started working at the Dermatology Referral Services as a Lead Vet and Head of the Service.

Her special interests include feline dermatology, cytology, management of fungal and bacterial infections, otitis and recently, CO2 lasers procedures. She finds responsible use of Antibiotics  extremely  important and she recently edited a summary for ANICURA of the Guidelines for Antimicrobial use for canine pyoderma published by ISCAID (2025) as a handout, and BMP guidelines for Otitis externa for first opinion vets. In this stage of her life, she really enjoys teaching and sharing experience and knowledge, as well as offering a state of the art service to her patients.
